Young Ringers' Practice - Brightwell cum Sotwell
We had planned to go to elsewhere for this practice, but things became complicated because Oxford Botanic Gardens are partnering with the ODG to celebrate their 400th anniversary. They wanted to film and interview some of our young ringers to use on their website. We needed somewhere where they could film easily and came to the conclusion that Brightwell was a far better venue.
There were ten young ringers, three young (under 25) ART teachers to help with the less experienced young ringers and ten adults including parents, tower captains and the member of Oxford Botanic Gardens marketing staff.
As usual, we rang rounds and call changes and games to test our ability to control our bells. For our more experienced young ringers we rang Grandsire and Stedman triples, as well as Cambridge minor with help from some of the adults.
Daphne’s excellent refreshments again helped the relaxed atmosphere. Altogether a very happy afternoon with friendships developing among the young ringers. We hope the Oxford Botanic Gardens people were equally happy with the recordings of our young ringers.
